Outstanding in the field

So – it’s been a minute, but I am back interwebs. And I am here to tell you that if you have somehow avoided following Outstanding in the Field on the social media, props to you. I’ve been following along for awhile now ooooohing and aaahhhing over their remarkably long tables filled with full wine glasses, smiling faces, and huge bowls of family style food being passed around. So when my darling friend sent me a text a few weeks ago saying “Please tell me you are going to this.” I obviously responded with a “Oh shit no! How did I miss that, I’ve wanted to go to one FOREVER!” So, being the delightful human she is, she very intelligently figured it would only be right to book a flight and come join me and another visiting friend on Oahu and we all would go. And we did. And oh my heart – was it absolutely delicious, and an all around awesome experience!

The OITF crew were super nice, very chill, and honestly handled the whole crazy ass winter wind gusts and rain on the west side very well. I was pumped to get to check out Ma’o Organic Farms having read a bunch about how bad ass it is and all the good that they are doing. Seriously – go check them out team! Annnnnd then when I finally looked at like, hey who will be cooking for this shindig and found out it was the Ed Kenny crew, I knew we were in the best eating situation on the island (seriously, over their visit we ate at Kaimuki Supertte for lunch, Mud Hen Water for dinner and got Town pastas for take out after the MHW meal). Ohhhhhhhh and that Breadshop bread was really great for all of their butter to go on so I didn’t have to just keep eating it straight  out of the jar like an animal.

Anyway, turns out I was right…. here was our adventure. My lovely dinner dates. So glad these babes came to visit!  

Sooooo cannot recommend getting yourself into one of these gorgeous long tables ASAP – you will not be disappointed. And a final wrap up thanks to my iPhone snapshots….
